A dry, warm summer at six Skåne stations

2026-09-29

Every day of June, July and August at six SMHI weather stations, compared with each station's own past summers.

Six panels, one per station. Bars above each line show the day's highest temperature, bars below show the day's rain. Every station got well under its usual summer rain, and most had more warm days than usual.

Each panel is one station, from the wettest to the driest. Bars above the line show the day's highest temperature, and bars below show that day's rain, on a square root scale so a light shower stays visible next to a downpour. All six panels share the same scales and colours, so they can be compared directly.

Every station had a dry summer, with between half and two thirds of its usual rain. Skillinge on the Österlen coast got 82 mm, about half its usual amount and the driest of the 30 summers on its record since 1996. Malmö and Hörby each had their third driest of 30 recorded summers. Hästveda in the northeast looks wet next to the others at 216 mm, but that is still only two thirds of what it usually gets.

It was also warm. Malmö had 27 days of 25° or more, against a usual 18, and Skillinge had 14 against a usual 6. The exception was Falsterbo, at the tip of its peninsula, where the sea kept things close to normal with 7 such days. The whole region peaked together on 27 June, with 35.6° at Hästveda and 35.1° in Malmö.

"Usual" here means the average of each station's own summers since 1996, or since 2010 for Falsterbo and 2013 for Hästveda, which have shorter records.
